Red as a tomato

Guys I was on tv. No big deal.
TROOP!

Guys I was on tv. No big deal.
TROOP!

Fuck

So my friend who’s doing troopers with me is so not prepared. He somehow lost his contract during the flight. He forgot to bring his check book to pay them. He doesn’t have our return flight papers. He didn’t bring his birth certificate.
I’m so bummed. We are in the Indianapolis airport with a bunch of other troops and I can’t be happy because it doesn’t even seem like my friend cares.
To top it off I forgot to bring a towel…
Fuck.

Last day in Lafayette

The last day I’ll stay at my comfy little home. I’m nervous but excited. I’ll miss enjoying a summer with all my friends but it’ll be worth it to perform. Troopers I hope you’re ready for me. Please let me not forget anything… :/

LETS DO IT BABY!

hair is gone. So ready for my first DCI season to start in two days. <3
Ill miss all my friends!

Excuse the fuck out of me.
Some of us live in places where the only place you can buy comics is Barnes and Noble.
Some of us don’t like comics because of the decades of continuity, complicated multiple universes, and the fact that, while there is a huge amount of talent in the industry, there are countless comics that have been tainted by poor writing and artwork.
Some of us prefer films because it is more relevant to our interests.
Some of us don’t have the income or time to spare to enjoy comics.
You don’t need to have read the comics to appreciate or be a fan of a character.
This attitude of superiority from people who are “real fans” because they read the comics makes me rage so hard.
Maybe people would be more eager to read comics if comic fans were more inclusive.

Thank you, and let’s not even begin on the blatant misogyny in this meme. As a girl who has frequented many different comic book stores, I have been met with hostility, sexual harrassment, and being ignored because they have thought I was a male customer’s arm-accessory and that’s from the employees. Don’t even get me started on the terrible shit I’ve seen among male-dominated spaces. I am not saying I have a problem with places where there’s tons of dudes, but excuse me for being hesitant about going to go walk into a store seeking help and recommendations where I’m likely to have people oggle at me, make rape jokes, and ignore me.
So yeah, make comics and places to buy comics more accessible and less sexist as fuck, and then we’ll talk.

THIS. THIS. Just EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS!
Let me just rant for a minute here.
Seriously? All you “hardcore” comic book fans are DICKS. I’m not talking about the fans who can recite facts like they were implanted in their brains, or know about characters that have never seen the light of day or have bookshelves upon bookshelves lined with comics. I’m talking about those jerks who believe that just because they’ve read through the comics automatically means that they are better and more loyal fans!
So what, I haven’t read through all the comics? Know who has time to do that? Not me! I have a job, a social life and other expenses in my life to deal with than buying comic books that are 20 bucks a pop.
What the hell happened to fandom support???? GODS It’s hard enough getting into comics as a female without all your negativity. Oh yea, you’re so happy to see me dressed in skin tight outfits with my boobs hanging out, but if I DARE get one fact wrong, then I’m worthless.
It makes me so freaking ANGRY that nerds just can’t support each other! The nerd community (while growing steadily) is so TINY that we can’t just tear each other down!
For instance, I recently dressed as Lady Loki to a convention, a costume I’ve worked HARD on. I got a LOT of positive feedback… until one huge guy with an X-men shirt and a serious BO problem approaches me and simply says “Why do you have eyebrows? She’s not supposed to have eyebrows” Meanwhile, I come back with “Well, it’s mostly based on the new movie’s look. THAT, and there are several places in the comics where it looks like she has eyebrows. Plus, I think every fanart has her with eyebrows and I just feel more comfortable this way.”
Because I couldn’t say EXACTLY where and what comics I’d seen her that way, I was written off as a stupid female who is OBVIOUSLY just doing the costume for attention. You know what, sir? FUCK YOU. No, actually, that’s too nice. I wouldn’t want to condemn anyone by having them crawl up on you. GO JUMP DOWN A WELL, YOU SWINE.
I had it. So freaking much.

You could probably find some comics online for free. I wouldn’t necessarily put a lot of attention on the fact you can’t read it because they’re too expensive. If you really like the character then I think you’d find a way to learn some stuff about them whether it be through friends or even wikipedia. But yeah the sexist thing and nerds attacking each other for one wrong fact. That’s bad, totally with you.
IMO it really doesn’t matter who’s the bigger fan. What really matters is the shared love for the series and characters. Being able to express mutual feelings of happiness for a subject is an amazing way to connect with people and maybe learn more about the subject. I know I’m not the comic guy either but my friends who do read it inform me all the time of some things I didn’t know about the characters and I thank them for letting me know. If they have to be a dick about it, they probably just have an ego problem. PLEASE DO NOT GENERALIZE ALL DIE HARD “HARDCORE” COMIC NERDS THROUGH ONLY A FEW INSTANCES AS BEING ALL DICKS.
